The claim that men and women are so psychologically different they amount to separate species earns Pop Psychology. The book sold enormously, but the science contradicts its premise: Hyde's gender-similarities hypothesis (2005), reviewing decades of meta-analyses, found that on the large majority of psychological measures men and women differ little or not at all, with only a few exceptions. Real average differences exist in narrow areas, but the broad different-planets framing overstates them and hides how much overlap there is.
